APPLICATIONS
Furthermore it
is possible to mould items consisting of two symmetric or
asymmetric parts - such as the two halves of a suitcase - in
a more economic way.
The possibility to adjust both the injection phase and the
closing phase for each of the two moulds in a totally
independent manner allows for production of two different
parts, with the only constraints being that the same
material is utilized for both moulds and that cooling times
for both moulds are similar. Taking into consideration that
normally recycled material is more sensitive to thermal
degradation during the plasticizing process, this machine
configuration guarantees an exploitation of the injection
unit because the more the plasticizing unit is utilized the
lower is the time that the material remains at high
temperature.
The use of a three-platen machine in the above described
configuration provides a productivity increase of almost 90%
with respect to a standard single-mould machine. In
comparison with a production process involving two identical
tonnage machines, capital investment costs, operating costs
and footprint space are considerably reduced while achieving
a similar production rate

CLAMPING UNIT
The camping
unit is characterized by a third platen situated in the
intermediate position between the fixed and moving platens.
This particular configuration makes possible the mounting of
two distinct moulds at the same time. This technical
solution allows the different phases of mould opening,
ejection and injection of mould 1 to be performed during the
cooling phase of mould 2.
The movement of the two moulds with a single double clamp
toggle system requires a mould locking system during the
cooling phase. This system ensures the locking between the
third central platen and alternatively the fixed platen and
the moving platen. The locking itself can be effectuated for
any mould thickness. The locking system consists of two
identically installed groups on each of the three platens of
the clamping unit (moving platen, fixed platen and central
platen), diagonally positioned one opposite the other

INJECTION
UNIT
The
injection unit is positioned perpendicular to the clamping
unit , with the possibility of axial and transverse shifting
of the unit itself. Two hot runners are positioned on the
inside of the central platen that alternatively feed each
mould, thanks to the presence of shutters integrated into
the same system. The injection unit is disengaged during
clamping system movement. The injection phase can be
regulated independently for each of the two moulds: this
technique allows for the moulding of different items
