MULTICOMPONENT MOLDING
TECHNOLOGY FOR THERMOPLASTICS
OVER-MOLDING
The technique
of over-molding is characterized by the use of one or more
inserts within the mold. After having completed injection of
the first materiel, the inserts inside the mold move in such
a way as to create within the mold cavity the space
necessary for injection of the second material
OVER-MOLDING WITH ROTATING TABLE
On this
rotating table, mounted on the moving platen of the
injection molding machine, one half of the mold is fixed in
place. After injection of the first material, the hydraulic
table rotates the mold and positions it in such a way as to
allow for the injection of the second material. This
technique allows for the simultaneous injection of both
materials
CO-INJECTION
The technique
of co-injection finds applications in the production of
articles realized from different materials. The adoption of
such a production process derives from either technical
reasons (materials with different physical/chemical features)
or economic reasons (valued materials externally and
recycled materials internally). This technique provides for
injection of the two materials in sequence, through the same
nozzle
BI-INJECTION
The technique
of bi-injection is characterized by the injection of two
different materials at the same time, within the same cavity,
through two different nozzles. The final product obtained
utilizing this technique depends fundamentally both from the
technical features and configuration of the injection
molding machine, as well as from the construction method of
the mold
